Gerringong Anglican Church welcomes families of all shapes and sizes. Of course, a family includes people from many generations, and so does our church family.
We encourage dads, mums, kids & grandparents to grow in their relationship with God and each other. We enjoy having fun together. We seek to support each other through the ups and downs of family life. We challenge each other, young and old, to serve and love others.
Everyone, no matter what stage of life they are at, has a place in our church family, as we learn from God’s word together and live out our faith.
If you have any questions about our ministry to families, please contact Jon Clare.
Alternatively, here are some of the ways we seek to minister to families.
10am Family Church
Our 10am service is a contemporary and relaxed gathering in the church hall for families young & old. The music is modern & energetic. Children are welcome in our church service and are actively included as we sing, pray & read God’s Word. When it’s time for the grownups to hear the Bible explained in the sermon, the young people head out to participate in their own teaching programs – LittleKids@Church for the pre-schoolers & Kids@Church for children in Years K-6 – before returning to the service to either show us what they have been learning or sing one last song together.
We share in the Lord’s Supper (or Communion) on the fourth Sunday of every month, and include the children so that they can learn about this important way Christians remember Jesus together.
At 10am Family Church we welcome the noise of children, so you needn’t hush them or rush out if your little one is exuberant or upset. However, we do provide a crèche in the old church building with an audio link to the service, if you would like to feed your baby or give your toddler some room to play.
After the formal service is over, we stay around to meet new people and catch up with friends over morning tea while the children play in our secured playground area.
Junior Jivers is a great opportunity for mums and dads to bring their babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers together for singing, dancing, stories, craft & playing.
Friday Children’s & Youth Groups
Holiday Fun is a holiday program for school-aged children in Years K-6, run every school holidays.
Bible Study groups
We encourage parents & teenagers to join Bible study groups to learn more from God’s word, deepen friendships and pray together. These meet during the week, some during the day and others in the evenings in homes of various church members.
FEAST stands for Families Eating and Sharing Together and is a regular and informal gathering of young families to eat a meal together – either an early dinner on Saturday night or a relaxed Sunday lunch after church. Ask Jon Clare for the details of the next FEAST gathering.
