The Bible insists that every Christian is called to be a minister. The word 'minister’ means 'servant’ and our Lord Jesus expected all who love and follow Him to serve Him and other people in His name. Loving one's fellow Christians is one of the two great proofs that your Christian faith is genuine.
Here at Gerringong Anglican Church we seek to lovingly care for, support and pray for those who are ill, grieving, facing critical decisions or in difficult circumstances.
Whilst our ministry staff have an important role to play it is impossible for them to provide for all the pastoral needs of our community.
Our Pastoral Care Committee, headed up by our honorary Pastoral Care Minister Rev. Graeme Begbie, exists to support the pastoral care ministry of all the members of our church family. They seek to keep the channels of communication between pastors and people open so needs can be addressed quickly, and train and encourage our members to love and serve in this way.
Our long term aim is to have all our church members:
- PRAYING for each other regularly
- Being AVAILABLE to help wherever, whenever & however possible
- Making CONTACT with at least one other member on a regular basis, ideally though belonging to a small group
- Being an EXAMPLE of a growing Christian
We also have some specific pastoral care ministries such as providing transport, meals, funeral catering and prayer support.
